Anxiety is often experienced as this all pervading, generalized sense of unease. In psychiatry it is often connected to the mind, but it is really a state that affects the entire bodymind, as the mind is located not only in the brain, but as an integrated part of the entire energy body (aura) of a person. Sometimes, anxiety becomes so familiar it feels like it is just another part of ones being, similar to a leg or an arm. When anxiety becomes so familiar, statements such as "I am anxious" often ensue. It is recommended that you begin to catch yourself and rephrase statements such as this because of the minds ability to attract what is put out to the Universe through intention.
Let's take a step back for a moment and consider that experiences of anxiety are in actuality very similar to any other experience, for example like an experience of the ocean, except that because it can't be seen like the ocean we assume it is actually part of or merged with us. Consider for a moment what it is like to go to the ocean, we can hear it, we can see it, and we can swim in it. As we float in the ocean and get comfortable in it and more familiar with its ebb and flow, we can feel as if we are becoming one with it...a merging happens. This merging happens also with anxiety, as we frequently float in it, it feels as if we are one with it. But we are not. Anxiety is an experience like any other and we can begin to separate ourselves from it.
Just like we can stand up and step out of the ocean and simply observe the ocean, we can do the same with anxiety. When we shift our awareness to simply being the witness of anxiety, we come closer to standing on the shore and then soon one day walking away from it all together. The first step is to acknowledge "I am having an experience of anxiety" and thank the universe for the experience and ask "what can I learn from this experience?" and "what quality is this experience asking me to develop within myself?" By shifting our internal (and external)dialogue and asking to learn something from the experience, we begin healing and releasing the experience of anxiety. Often, anxiety acts as a blanket covering deeper emotions and when we shift our perspective and simply witness the anxiety we can begin to lift it and look underneath at the underlying emotions that were being hidden by the blanket. By being open to the process and trusting that there is a process the anxiety will begin to shift. The process of witnessing and asking the questions will shift the experience, the next step is witnessing and waiting for the body to respond with answers. Through meditation, we can visualize the blanket being lifted and begin to look at and feel the underlying emotions to bring them to resolve.
Allowing ourselves to feel emotions, move through them and return back to our natural state of being (peace) is the process. Witness, asking the questions, being open to answers, and meditation are the tools.
I wish you peace.

My life as my prayer
As I pray, I set the intention and tone for my day and my life. I ask for what I want in the most positive way. I ask for Grace and send Love to life's most difficult circumstances including those that appear both near and dear to me as well as far removed. For it is my knowing that all things that happen in the world are a part of me, as I pray Love I know that Love is being sent round the world.
When low vibrating emotions set in (fear, anger, jealousy, envy, greed, etc.) I utilize that as my signal for a movement toward forgiveness and Love. Yes, as soon as possible I shift toward a meditative state and send Love to the experience. In but a moment, my perspective is different and again, all is well in my world.
